An online guide to collectable cameras and related stuff

Ihagee Exa IIa

In 1963 the Exa and Exa II were given a facelift, and were renamed the Exa I and Exa IIa. The camera was functionally like the Exa II, fixed finder and focal plane shutter. It had a more curved appearance, along the lines of the recently restyled Exaktas. The back is removed for loading film, instead of hinging open.

Version 1 (1963-64)

The early version does not have strap lugs. Serial numbers run from 140,000 to 160,000.

Version 2 (1964-65)

The late version does have strap lugs, otherwise it is the same as the first version. Serial numbers run from 160,000 to 190,000.
