55/1.4 Zeiss Planar for Contarex

The 55/1.4 Planar in chrome.

Although it was only $50 more than the 50/2 Planar in 1968, it did not sell nearly as well. I find that kind of surprising given that this was still from the era where speed sold lenses, and while 1.4 was the fastest lens for the Contarex system, their Japanese competitors Nikon, Canon and even Minolta offered 1.2 lenses.
