An online guide to collectable cameras and related stuff

Yamato Koki Kogyo KK

Yamato is a company whose history is shrouded in mystery. Early products include Dan 35 III and Super Dan 35 (which led to the PAX line of cameras), a design which originated form the company Hagimoto, and the folding camera Minion Six which has ties to the companies Shin Nippon Kogyo and Kigawa.

Their primary products were compact 35mm cameras, often sold with different names for different stores or distributors.

At Photokina in 1963 they showed prototypes of the world's first cameras with electronic shutters, but they never went into production. That is about the last that was ever heard of from Yamato.
