Ihagee Vest Pocket Exakta B

The Exakta B, in both chrome and black finish.

Introduced in 1933, the Exakta B was produced in seven versions.

Version 1, 1933

First version has a slightly smaller thread size on the lens mount, 39.5mm, as opposed to a later 39.8. The thread pitch was different also. It can be identified as the only model B without the Ihagee logo embossed in the waist level hood. All Exakta B cameras have the shutter interlock that prevents the shutter from firing without extending the lens.

Version 2, 1934

Like the previous model, but with the logo on the waist level finder.

Version 3, 1934

The lens mount has been enlarged to the 39.8mm size, and the wind knob is now replaced with a lever advance. The infinity locking lever has been moved to the wind side of the camera. A safety cover was added over the red window on the back.

Version 4, 1935

Vacublitz flash sockets added to the front of the camera.

Version 5, 1937

A third, threaded socket was added to the flash synch on the front, it was threaded to hold the flash cord in place.

Version 6, 1938

The top plates, front plate, and finder hood finished in matte chrome. The front plate is held on by four visible screws.

Version 7, 1938

A final black version, with the visible screw heads of the chrome model.
