One of the lenses that lent instant credibility to the Contax system would have had to have been the 85/2 Sonnar. It was a one up on the 73/1.9 Hektor Leitz had available, by being a bit longer and sharper. It was a great lens for press use, and it was popular throughout it's production.
First available in black and nickel finish in 1933, it became chrome, then aluminum during the war, and afterwards, first in it's East German production, and later from the West German Zeiss plant in Oberkochen.

The 85/2 Sonnar in chrome finish, quite an impressive lens.
