Bellows Unit 1

The Bellows Unit 1

The Bellows Unit 1, rear view.

Nippon Kogaku introduced the Bellows 1 in may of 1958. One year later they introduced the Nikon F, an SLR that quickly changed the photographic world. Using a bellows on a rangefinder camera is a tedious process, and requires a reflex housing. The low demand and short production span combined to keep production down to about 200 units.

It was provided with lens reversing rings of 40.5 and 43mm, for the 50/2 and 50/1.4 lenses respectively. It could also be used with the 135/4 Nikkor in short mount, which was introduced concurrently with this Bellows, but which would also fit the Nikon F bellows unit as well.
