The most obvious change brought in with the introduction of the Exakta II is the hinged cover for the magnifier. Many Kine-Exaktas suffer from scratched magnifiers. In addition, the counter was moved under the top plate, the numbers visible through a window, and the counter can be disengaged by a lever on the top plate. The rewind knob is replaced with a key. The camera is identified on the front plate, which lacks the indentations found on the Kine-Exakta. It is possible some examples were produced with the "Exacta" spelling, rather than "Exakta".
Also, the lens flange on this model, and the very first Exa cameras are finished in black.
There are two versions of the Exakta II.Version 1
Appeared on the market in 1948. Serial numbers start around 647000, although there are rumors of numbers lower than that. The end at about 655000.
Version 2
In 1949 the third fixing hole on the flash synch was dropped. There is also a difference in the construction of the front plate. Serial numbers run 655000 to 672000.
