Melcon and Melcon II

The Melcon
The Melcon was a Leica copy produced from 1955 to 1956, when it was superceeded by the Melcon II. It was available with either a 50/3.5 Hexar or 50/2 Nikkor lens. Production was low, about 1500. It features an opening back, but little else to distinguish it.

The Melcon II is styled more like a Nikon S2, and is even less common. It was very well finished and has a very smooth feel. However, the camera made no impact on the market, and the company quitely disappeared in 1958.
