Super Ikonta
Super Ikonta was a line of top quality folding rangefinder cameras. Many are still in use today.Sizes are designated by letters A-D, and the traditional Zeiss numerical; code Models are designated by a number, which often is constant between sizes.
Some of the early models with less expensive lenses (usually Novar) were marked "super Ikomat".
Super Ikonta A
Super Ikonta A cameras are 4.5 x 6 CM, on 120 film. Rotating wedge rangefinder on an arm that folds out from behind the lens. This format was given no extension on the model number.
Super Ikonta A (530)
First model, 1934-37. Direct (not Albanda) finder. Usually with 70/3.5 Tessar in unsynched Compur shutter. Black rangefinder cover. $$
Super Ikonta A (531) early
Like 530, but with Albanda finder. Most are with Tessar, but Novar and Xenar lenses were available. Still no flash synch. 1937-50 $$

As 531 above, but with chrome rangefinder cover. Models with Synchro-Compur shutter are worth $$$, Compur Rapid are $$ Some Compur-Rapid models have synch.
Super Ikonta B
Super Ikonta B cameras are 6 x 6 CM, on 120 film. This format was given /16 after the model number. Rotating wedge rangefinder on a rigid arm on the lens standard.

First model, 1935-37. Separate rangefinder and viewfinder. Usually with 80/2.8 Tessar, occasionally with 80/3.5. Some examples from 1936 are marked "Super Six" for the European market. No synch. $$

Combined rangefinder and viewfinder. Lens standard in black. No synch 1937-48 $$
Super Ikonta B (531/16) later
As above, but with chrome lens standard. 1949-56. Models with Synchro-Compur shutter are worth $$, Compur Rapid are $$
Super Ikonta BX
Super Ikonta BX cameras are basically Super Ikonta B cameras with a selenium meter on the top.

Super Ikonta BX (531/16) later
As above, but with meter not as tall. Synchro-Compur shutter. 1949-56. $$
Super Ikonta C
Super Ikonta C cameras are 6 x 9 CM, on 120 film. Rotating wedge rangefinder on an arm that folds out from behind the lens. This format uses the "/2" extension on the model number.
Super Ikonta C (530/2)

First model, 1934-36. Direct (not Albanda) finder. 120/4.5 Triotar in Klio shutter, or 1054.5 or 3.8 Tessar in Compur or Compur-Rapid shutter, unsynched. Black rangefinder cover. $$
Super Ikonta C (531/2) early
Like 530/2, but with Albanda finder. Tessar 4.5, 3.8 or 3.5 in Compur or Compur-Rapid shutter. Still no flash synch. Some are dual format cameras with second ruby window and mask for 4.5 x 6 cm 1936-50 $$

Super Ikonta D
These are the big boys of the Super Ikonta line. 6.5 x 11 cm, on 616 film, they were provided with masks for half frame exposures. Folding arm on the lens standard with rotating rangefinder wedge.
Super Ikonta D (530/15)
First model, 1934-36. Direct (not Albanda) finder. 120/4.5 Tessar in Compur shutter, or 120/4.5 Triotar in Klio shutter. No synch. Black rangefinder cover. $$
Super Ikonta D (531/2) early
Like 530/15, but with Albanda finder, chrome rangefinder face. Compur or Compur-Rapid shutter. Still no flash synch. 1936-39 $$
Super Ikonta III and IV
The last of the Super Ikonta series, they are 6x6, with rangefinders without the rotating wedge..
Super Ikonta III (531/16)
Compact version of the Super Ikonta B. 1954-58. Tessar or Novar in Synchro-Compur.. $$
Super Ikonta IV (534/16)
Similar to the Super Ikonta III, but with selenium meter. Has the feared and dreaded LVS system. Ok, it's not really feared OR dreaded, but it can be annoying. You set the "Light Value", and the shutter speed and aperture controls are locked together. It is difficult to adjust one without adjusting both. Anyway, Tessar 75/3.5 in Sychro-Compur. $$-$$$
